Henry Park Primary School Seminar for Parents

I am glad the school with the alumni association took the trouble to do this for the parents. I was also able to meet two friends, from school and from university days whom I have not seen for a while. There were so many questions during the break - which is good - that I did not manage to catch up with them.

Problem 1
Take a 2-digit number, say 76. Multiply its digits 7 x 6 = 42. Continue to multiply the digits of the resulting product until you get a 1-digit product. 4 x 2 = 8. The numbers generated are 76, 42, 8. With 92, we get a sequence of three numbers 92, 18, 8.

Which 2-digit numbers give a sequence of 2 numbers, 3 numbers and 4 numbers? Is it possible to use a 2-digit number to generate a sequence of 5 or 6 numbers?

Problem 2
Four different dolls are arranged in a row. How many different ways can this be done?

Problem 3
When 2 is multiplied 3 times, the product is 8. The ones digit is 7 and the tens digit is 0. What is the ones digit and tens digit when 2 is multiplied 5 times? Are they 2 and 3, respectively? Find the ones and tens digit when 2 is multiplied 2009 times.
